Patzcuaro, Michoacan. – On Wednesday, March 20th, the first date of the seminar entitled “Dying in Mexico/Michoacan” took place. Its main objective was to inform attendees about what actions they can take to prepare for an imminent event: death, mainly, death when you reside in a foreign country, in this case, Mexico. The seminar was held at the La Jacaranda Cultural Center and lasted 5 hours, with a half-hour break during which a light lunch was served. About 26 people attended, all foreigners residing in Mexico. The speakers at the…

Communication is often the key to success.
In this sluggish economy with a surfeit of houses on the market, I had the good fortune to avail myself of the services of Liliana Gonzalez and Mexatua Real Estate. Thanks to Liliana´s knowledge of the market here in Morelia, my townhouse in Santa Maria sold quickly for a very fair price. Liliana and her professional staff handled every detail of the transaction and ensured a speedy and problem-free outcome for all. Communication is often the key to success, and Liliana and her staff were available by phone, email and…

My husband and I first came into contact with Liliana Gonzalez in the Fall of 2005 when we were looking for a rental in Patzcuaro for the month of February 2006. We were very happy with the rental and were impressed with Liliana’s credentials, her professional manner and her engaging personality. During our stay, we expressed an interest in possibly buying property in the area, and Liliana showed us a variety of available real estate. We also met with other realtors, but did not feel the same confidence in their…

My husband and I would recommend very highly Liliana Gonzalez. She recently completed a very difficult transaction for us and handled all the bumps with great professionality and aplomb. Many problems arose regarding the currency to be used, banks and investment companies, and obtaining the power of attorney which allowed Liliana to act on our behalf. Through all the problems Liliana navigated with great expertise and got it done for us. We believe we could not have had a better realtor/attorney there in Mexico. Thanks, Liliana for taking such good…

Five years ago while vacationing in Mexico, my wife and I discovered Michoacan and in particular the picturesque and tranquil Patzcuaro area. We thought this piece of paradise on earth would be a good place to retire. We scheduled a return trip for the end of the year. In anticipation of this trip we turned to the internet to see if there were real estate agencies and available listings so that we could initiate our search for a retirement property. Of the few agencies with websites we came across Mexatua.net,…

Working with Liliana made our house purchase in Patzcuaro easy, hassle-free, and even fun. As an attorney, she proofread everything, corrected mistakes made by the Notario’s office, and made certain all paperwork was in correct, legal order. She even provided us with an English translation of our property purchase agreement. Very impressive and professional. Thank you Lilana! We can’t imagine wanting to work with the ‘big name’ outfits in town – who didn’t even respond to our initial inquiries Doug and Susan Spokane, WA

Already recognizing the magic of Pátzcuaro, the “down-to-earth” experience also became magical when, at the end of a day of looking at available houses, Liliana took us to see her first “project.” This was her first try at rescuing a local house and transforming it into a usable and appealing space for north americans. We stood on a pile of construction debris, looking at architectural drawings taped to a wall, and knew we had found our dream home. Liliana never even had a chance to advertise! The architect working with…

“Buying a house in Mexico seemed like a daunting task (well, actually it was). However, with the expertise of Liliana our fears were greatly diminished. Not only is she a lawyer versed in Mexican real estate law, but she has also lived in the U.S. and is able to provide a bridge between what we have been used to and what we could expect with the purchase of our new home. She is also a wonderful, genuine person and we count her among many of the new friends we have…
