Top 5 Coffee spots.

By Huicho

Hola a todos. Today I’m going to talk about some of my favorite places to have a nice cup of coffee or a hot chocolate or maybe just sit down and chat.

I’m not an expert in any subject, and I don’t pretend to be. I’m just a guy who loves his city and who wants to share it with you. By doing this I’m also learning more about it.

The next are, according to me, the best 5 coffee spots in Morelia.

1.- Jardín de las Rosas

Whether  you want a cappuccino, a cold beer or a delicious tizana, the best place to go is, without doubt, el  Jardín de las rosas (Garden of roses). Located in the heart of Morelia, this garden hosts 4 of the best places to go. They are pretty much the same thing, with some slight differences in service and products offered, but I think the best one is  “Viandante“. The whole environment around the Garden is just magical. It captures the essence of Morelia. Just watching the people walk-by is a relaxing experience. You just can’t miss coming here.

Address: Jardin de las Rosas. Santiago Tapia, between Guillermo Prieto and El Nigromante.

2.- Museo del Dulce (Candy Museum)

From the moment you walk through the door, you get transported to colonial Mexico. With a good service, (everybody in costume), you could sit down and order a delicious hot or cold chocolate accompanied by the mind blowing milky way cake. Sooner or later you could explore the different attractions that this place offers: the candy store, the souvenir shop, the actual candy museum… ooooooooooooor you could have them take a shot of you and your family or friends in one of those old looking sepia-pictures that make it look that you just travel several years to the past.

Location: Av. Madero Oriente No. 440. Centro histórico.

3.- Los Portales

This place is a must for any visitor of Morelia. With a great view of the famous Cathedral and Plaza de Armas, this place is a traditionally good place to go, sit down and have a very nice chat. You will find a good service in any of the places in Los Portales and the food is pretty good. You can order different antojitos michoacanos and loosen your belt a little bit.

Location: Av. Madero Poniente. Just in front of Plaza de Armas. Next to the Cathedral

4.- Starbucks

I know, I know, you are probably saying what is wrong with this guy, but you would actually be surprised if you go to any of the two Starbucks in Morelia, specially the one in Camelinas avenue. The place is great, the music is really good and the coffee quality is good enough, at least for me. You would definitely receive one of the friendliest services in all Morelia. They can put a smile on your face on any moment. And the commodity they have is something you won’t find in many other places… and I’m not talking only about the furniture it’s just the whole created environment. It just makes you feel good.

Location: Av. Camelinas 1494, almost in front of Plaza fiesta camelinas

5.- Rincón de los Sentidos.

If you like trova music, which is a kind of romantic music played normally by one person only, accompanied with an acoustic guitar, this is the place to go. You can chose a table or lie down in cushions around one of the low leveled tables. With a perfect, relaxed environment and live music, el Rincon the los Sentidos has earned its place in my list of the top 5 coffee spots.

Phone: (443) 317-5974

Location: Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz 67. Centro Histórico.

That’s all I have to say. Feel free to make any comments about my post. If you have any other recommendation I will be glad to read it. Don’t forget to Visit Morelia.
