Semana Santa 2015 in Michoacan

Semana Santa celebrations, events and exhibitions will take place in Michoacan from Sunday March 29 to Sunday April 5, 2015.

There are lots of traditions in Morelia, Patzcuaro, Uruapan, Tzintzuntzan, Santa Clara and surroundings every year in Semana Santa (Holy Week) such as the Altars of Dolores, the Via Crucis, the Procession of Silence (Procesión del Silencio) in Morelia and Patzcuaro and tianguis in Uruapan and Patzcuaro.

Altars of Dolores exhibitions at Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita and  Museo de Artes e Industrias Populares, both located in the corner of Enseñanza and Alcantarilla streets in downtown Patzcuaro and the State Museum in Morelia.

10 International Festivals in MoreliaThe Via Crucis representation will be on Friday April 3, usually on the main streets on every town.

Also, on April 3, the Procession of Silence starts around 6 pm in the main streets on every town.

Patzcuaro holds a Tianguis (art crafts market) during semana santa y pascua (holy week & easter) in Plaza Vasco de Quiroga aka Plaza Grande in downtown. Uruapan has contests, parades and prizes for artisans and the largest tianguis in the area.
