The XLIX Feria Nacional del Cobre (National Copper Fair) will be held in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán, August 9th to 17th, 2014. Fair will feature copper art crafts exhibitions and market, cultural, sporting & artistic activities and traditional food vendors.

The LXIX Concurso Nacional de Cobre Martillado (Hammered Copper National Contest)  will take place before the Fair. There will be about 300 artisans competing for 90 awards in four categories: master craftsmen, new values, youth and children and 16 special awards. Some participants´pieces and the winning pieces will be exhibited at the Museo del Cobre (Copper Museum).

Santa Clara del Cobre is a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Village) located in the center of the state of Michoacan, 18 kilometers from Patzcuaro and 79 kilometers from Morelia. It has a population of 14.359 according to the INEGI database of 2010. Santa Clara del Cobre is well known throughout Mexico and other parts of the world for its beautiful handicrafts made out of copper. The people of Santa Clara has been working with cooper since pre-Hispanic times. The quality and beauty of the pieces produced by the artisans of Santa Clara has earned them numerous awards including the Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes (National Sciences and Arts Prize) in the Tradiciones y Artes Populares (Arts and Popular Traditions) category in 1984.

Santa Clara is a unique colonial town with its copper kiosk in the main square and 66 Historical monuments protected by the INAH. Santa Clara del Cobre is included in La Ruta Don Vasco (Don Vasco´s Route) because he taught the indians special techniques to perfect their labor.
